Website information
The website provides general information about family-history research, workshops, a forthcoming book and heritage journey planning. Its content is not legal, medical, financial, migration or professional travel advice and should not be relied on for those purposes.
Website content may change and may not always be complete, current or suitable for your circumstances.
Enquiries, quotes and engagements
Submitting an enquiry does not create a client relationship or oblige either party to proceed. The scope, deliverables, timing, price and project-specific conditions will be set out in a written quote, proposal or booking confirmation.
An engagement begins when the stated acceptance requirements have been completed. If these terms differ from an accepted written quote or booking document, the specific written terms apply to that engagement.
Family-history research
Historical research depends on the availability, accuracy and interpretation of records. Records may be incomplete, inconsistent, mistranscribed, restricted, damaged or unavailable, and new evidence may alter an earlier conclusion.
We use reasonable care in an agreed research service but cannot guarantee that a particular ancestor, record, relationship or answer will be found. Findings are not proof for legal, citizenship, inheritance, medical or financial purposes.
Information and material you provide
You are responsible for accurate instructions and timely information. You confirm that you are entitled to supply documents, photographs and information you give us and authorise their use as reasonably necessary for the agreed service.
Please obtain appropriate permission before sharing private or sensitive information about another living person. We may decline to use material that appears unlawful, unsafe, defamatory or unreasonably intrusive.
Workshops
Workshop descriptions, dates, inclusions, accessibility arrangements and participant requirements will be stated in the relevant booking information. Workshops are educational and do not guarantee a particular research result or professional qualification.
Heritage journey planning
The scope may include historical research, destination suggestions, itinerary design or introductions to third-party providers, as stated in the written quote.
Unless expressly included in that quote, recommendations are planning information only and Places That Remember does not make or manage travel bookings. Contracts for transport, accommodation, tours and other third-party services are between you and the relevant provider and are subject to that provider’s terms.
Prices, opening hours, entry requirements, availability and travel conditions can change. You are responsible for current government travel advice, passports, visas, health requirements, accessibility, insurance and booking conditions. To the extent permitted by law, Places That Remember is not responsible for the acts, omissions, cancellations or failures of independent providers.
Cancellations, changes and refunds
Conditions for paid research, workshops or journey planning will be provided in the written quote or booking terms before payment. Project-specific conditions operate subject to any rights and remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Intellectual property
Unless stated otherwise, the website and its original text, branding, graphics and resources belong to Places That Remember or are used with permission. They may be viewed for personal, non-commercial use but must not be reproduced, published, sold or adapted without written permission.
You retain ownership of material you supply. Ownership and permitted use of custom reports, workshop resources and other deliverables will be stated in the applicable quote or booking terms.
External links
Links to archives, social media and other third-party websites are provided for convenience and do not amount to endorsement or control of their content, availability, security or privacy practices.
Liability and Australian Consumer Law
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies a guarantee, right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded, including under the Australian Consumer Law.
Subject to those non-excludable rights, use of general website content is at your own risk. Places That Remember is not responsible for loss arising solely from reliance on general website information, information supplied inaccurately by a client, unavailable historical records or third-party services outside our reasonable control.
Privacy, changes and contact
Personal information is handled as described in our Privacy Policy. We may update these terms from time to time. An existing paid engagement remains subject to its accepted written terms unless otherwise agreed.
